March UOVA Monthly Meeting Minutes

Today is the Tournament Director’s meeting. We are preparing to present the information.
Financials: There are 3 expenses for February – printing of rule books and also of the Tournament Director’s books. Everything is in order.
Bulk Mail – Lon has looked into this and it is ready to turn in after our non-profit status is confirmed (Traci is working on it.) Question of whether the Tournament Director’s need to print out hard copies of their flyers – TD’s can deliver their printed flyers to Traci at Westminster before their mailing due date. They do not have to be folded. Lon will take them to be mailed once they are turned in each time.
Question is raised on using last year’s rankings – it is generally accepted that we should use them until May.
Kevin is working on logos – we need to vote on a new logo for our t-shirts for the year. We will review the submissions and vote later this week.
Question of how many balls we should buy to stock up for the season – it is voted that we will buy 40. Traci thinks she has 9 on hand. We discuss the possibility of players turning in their old balls for a $5 price break on a new ball. These used balls could be used for our clinics at the Wednesday drop-in league.
2010 Schedule – ready to be reviewed by the TD’s. Still a few dates open. UOVA will place a few advertisements in the schedule, including Parent/Child, Drop-in, and 20th Anniversary advertisements.
A vote is taken to buy better quality duffel bags for this year to celebrate is as our 20th Year Anniversary. Vote passes. Kevin will look into the bags. Others are still looking into things to include in the bag….t-shirts, wristbands, coupons, etc. The first 400 people to join this year will receive the bag.
Net storage – still fine right now at Redwood, but this might change in the future.
The 2010 Open Series is presented – we will have roughly 14 tournaments (6 UOVA / 8 Wasatch), but this is subject to change. Wasatch has agreed to keep its relationship with UOVA – and to honor our prices. They will be partnering more closely with USA Volleyball this year and all of their registrations will run through USA we think.
St. George – Sundi will go and run Open. Lon thinks he can take the nets down. Information will be posted soon about host hotels.
Stuffing party for the bags will be April 7th at 6:30PM at Westminster.
