January UOVA Monthly Meeting Minutes

Welcome our new board members Shay and Liz! Lyndsey Henderson has resigned effective in December. Thanks for all of your hard work Lyndsey, we’ll miss you!
November notes will be reviewed in February.
Profit and Loss are presented by Traci to the Board. 2009 was a good year, our membership was up. The budget for 2010 is reviewed and discussed. The Board decides to budget for 300 members.
Lon still needs to purchase 4 new nets. The expenditure was approved last year.
Printing of shirts and sweatshirts – the Board decided to print long-sleeve shirts and sweatshirts for the 2010 season – to sale to our members. We will not offer an upgrade option for the membership t-shirt though. We decide on 100 long-sleeve shirts and between 50-75 sweatshirts. Kevin will look into pricing.
We need to get a t-shirt design for 2010. We will put it on the website and try to get some entries. For next year, Liz suggests putting it on the website early so that traffic from the entire season can be thinking about it beforehand.
Old Business:
Outsourcing our mailings – Lon is still checking into this.
Juniors / Jr. and Parents Divisions – We have decided to pair our juniors division somehow with our drop-in league to give them more opportunity to play. Sundi will work on some kind of junior program for the season.
Sanction Fee – The board votes to not reduce the sanction fee for the later tournaments. Other options are discussed to make sure that the end of season tournaments get a fair shake.
2010 Season Schedule – Stacy is still working on this. If there are blank dates, UOVA will fill in and run tournaments and run some different formats.
The Board votes again to not affiliate with the VB Superstore Affiliate Program.
Mesquite and Season Opener/Closer – The Board votes to give the opener and closer back to St. George as requested for this year and see how it goes. They request the dates of April 10th and October 16th and are approved. The UOVA Opener will run on April 17th and Bob will run his first tournament on April 24th.
Tournament Director’s Meeting – Scheduled for March 2nd at 11:30am at Westminster. More details to follow. Tanzia will start getting the handbook ready.
Next meeting is Monday, February 8th at 9am.
